The purpose of the party was to celebrate the students’ good behavior and to promote an active lifestyle. The students were joined by Braves first base coach Terry Pendleton, pitching coach Roger McDowell and Braves alumnus Phil Niekro.

“We are truly excited about the opportunity extended to our students – not just to receive gifts but to interact with representatives from Atlanta Braves and the Academy Sports + Outdoors,” said D.H. Stanton Elementary School Principal Dr. Clara Taylor. “The bicycles will continue to promote our mission to keep students healthy and physically fit. The D.H. Stanton family is grateful for our longstanding relationship with the Braves.”

Academy Sports + Outdoors will donate approximately 180 bikes and helmets to students throughout the Atlanta area this holiday season during three additional donation events in Douglasville, Cartersville and Athens.
