Twenty-three seniors from Atlanta Public Schools (APS) were awarded four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships worth approximately $100,000 each by The Posse Foundation, Inc. to some of the top colleges and universities in the country.
Congratulations to the 23 APS graduates that will attend college as 2014 Posse Scholars, each earning a four-year, full tuition scholarship worth approximately $100,000. The class of 2014 has the largest number of Posse Scholars awarded to APS seniors since the program’s inception in Atlanta in 2007-2008.
Selected by The Posse Foundation, scholars are identified by demonstrating extraordinary academic and leadership potential. Posse partner colleges and universities award four-year, full tuition merit based leadership scholarships to multicultural teams of 10 students each. Together, these teams (posses) will attend some of the top colleges and universities in the nation- including Syracuse University, Boston University and Texas A&M University.
The posse scholars were awarded the scholarship in December 2013. Since their induction, students have had the opportunity to meet with their posse members and attend college preparatory training workshops. They will attend these workshops through August. During their college matriculation they will continue to meet and receive support through mentoring, retreats, internships and other meaningful activities with the Posse Foundation. The Posse Foundation’s rigorous program boasts a college graduation rate of 90 percent. A list of APS Posse Scholars is below.
