Technology is an integral part of instruction at Perkerson Elementary School, and kindergarteners in the Dual Immersion Program utilize various forms of technology on a daily basis.
Kindergarteners have access to 60 iPads, and even use a scanner app to check their work in class. In addition to the Promethean board, students also use a Promethean ActivTable, a multi-user interactive table designed to increase collaboration in education.
Teacher Karen Ross describes the ActivTable as a Promethean board that is laying flat, with a touch screen similar to the iPad.
“Up to six students can use it at the same time, and all of the activities that are available for download are aligned to the Common Core standards,” Ross said. “Technology really is child’s play at Perkerson Elementary School.”

We are so pleased about all of the great things happening at our child’s school. From the dual language program, to the focus on the arts and technology, Principal Shawn Bender and his faculty have made our child’s kindergarten year wonderful. We could not ask for more from our neighborhood school!
