Perkerson Elementary School offers a Spanish Dual Immersion Kindergarten Program and is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year. The goals of Perkerson’s Dual Immersion Program are: To promote high academic achievement for all students To develop first and second language skills for bilingualism and bi-literacy To promote cross cultural understanding for all students Language immersion is an educational approach in which students are taught the curriculum contents through the medium of a second language. In class, the teacher only speaks Spanish while teaching literacy, math, science, and communication using a range of engaging strategies, which includes pictures, songs, games, and drama. Perkerson is accepting applications for the Dual Immersion Kindergarten from March 3-28, 2014. Kindergarten tours will also be available on February 19, March 5, and March 19 from 9:00 am- 10:00 am.
