APS High School Students Honored During Ceremony at Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building

by talkupaps

Community service by APS high school juniors and seniors was honored today during the U.S. General Services Administration’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. High School Summit, held at the newly restored Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building.

The summit featured a keynote address by radio personality Frank Ski and other invited celebrity guests, whose personal stories of sacrifice and achievement inspired the students and GSA employees to carry Dr. King’s legacy forward for the benefit of present and future generations.

The summit concluded with a tour of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Gallery of historic photographs at GSA regional headquarters located at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building. Re-opened one year ago this month following a major restoration effort, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building in 1983 became the first public building in the United States to bear the revered civil rights leader’s name.

Students from Washington High, North Atlanta High, Grady High, Crim High and Douglass High School were honored during the event by GSA Administrator and Presidential Appointee Shyam Reddy.
