A community service day is scheduled to take place at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, located at 545 Hill Street, SE, Atlanta 30312, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012.
During the half day event, volunteers from Home Depot will participate in activities to beautify the school, including painting and cleaning. Volunteers from Morehouse College are sponsoring a health fair at the school.
Students will participate in service learning projects, including creating greeting cards for children in hospitals, along with participating in a food and clothing collection drive for various charitable organizations.
Other events taking place during the service day include workshops on stress-relief and financial literacy; creating signs for the community garden; and putting together packages for the families of veterans.
