Ceremony for graduates of the Gang Resistance Education and Training program set for Friday

A special ceremony for students from five APS middle schools who successfully completed a 13-week Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, 1190 Northwest Drive, Atlanta, 30318. The special guest speakers are Chief George Turner of the Atlanta Police Department and Elder Bernice King of Be A King Enterprises, LLC.

During the program, students from B.E.S.T. Academy, Brown, Price, M.L. King middle schools and Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy will be recognized for successfully completing a skills-based course associated with the G.R.E.A.T. program.  The program’s goals are to prevent youth crime, violence and gang involvement while developing positive relationships among law enforcement, families and young people.
