Warren T. Jackson students had a great time learning about fitness and health during the school’s annual Wellness Week, held February 23-27, 2015. This initiative encourages students to make healthy choices and become physically active by introducing them to different ways to stay fit, eat healthy foods and practice healthy living. The week began with a fun kick-off for the students. There was a pep rally where students enjoyed the Jackson Spirit Team’s performance of some of their best cheers, a skit from the Jackson Student Wellness Ambassadors on healthy eating choices, and a motivational speech from the school’s personal trainer.
During the week, students participated in specialized fitness classes such as Tae Kwon Do, yoga and Pilates during P.E. They also participated in a healthy snack tasting and a fitness obstacle course during recess.
In support of one of Jackson’s students who has a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, more commonly known as EB, the school used Wellness Week as an opportunity to raise awareness about the disease by providing students with daily facts about EB each day during their daily morning show.
