UGA is Next Stop for Jessica Johnson, Salutatorian at South Atlanta High School of Computer Animation & Design

Jessica’s commitment and passion for learning began early in her childhood. When the other children played video games, Jessica read; when the other children read books, Jessica wrote her own short stories.

John Dewey stated, “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” Being named salutatorian is the result of the dedication and hard work Jessica has applied to her education throughout her life. Although she faced personal and social obstacles during her academic tenure, she did not allow them to impede her success or deter her from accomplishing her goals.

Jessica credits much of her success to her teachers, counselors, and most important, her mother, Marilyn Johnson, who taught her the value of education via the words of Anthony D’Angelo: “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

Jessican will attend  The University of Georgia.  Her career goal is to become a veterinarian.
