Dunbar Elementary students collected over 300 boxes of school supplies to donate to fellow students in Africa through the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, Inc. Dikembe Mutombo, a philanthropist and retired NBA all-star, visited Dunbar to inspire students to continue giving back. Through this experience, the students had an opportunity to give to others who are less fortunate by personally decorating boxes and filling them with useful school supplies.
Mutombo and Dunbar students will have their work featured on the front cover of the Experience Life Magazine.
Dikembe Mutombo created the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation in 1997 to help eradicate childhood diseases that threaten the lives of children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He has long been dedicated to improving the health, education and quality of life for the people.
