There are changes in the foreign language curriculum at APS this year. There will be more offerings of foreign language to APS students and more higher level courses. Foreign language services are being expanded at middle and high school grade levels. APS students are now able to take one foreign language as they advance through elementary, middle and high school within their new APS school clusters.
The emphasis is on giving students in every part of the city an opportunity to learn a foreign language over a number of years and in depth. APS is keeping up with the trend of Georgia students taking more foreign language classes. College are increasingly looking at foreign language classes taken by high school students as a requirement for admission. Businesses are continually looking for applicants with foreign language class instruction as the job market reflects a more globalized market perspective. These foreign language changes will bolster APS’s already robust offerings as one of the most extensive foreign language programs in Georgia.
