The Booker T. Washington boys basketball team has advanced to the Class AAA Final Four Basketball State Playoffs for the first time since 1987.
Quoted in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution after Washington High upset No. 6 Allatoona in the Class AAA quarterfinals, Coach William Faulkner said, “Our guys just wanted it. They were going to fight to the end. That’s the Booker T. Washington way.”
The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Drew High School (Clayton County) today, March 9, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Macon Centreplex in Macon, GA. The winner advances to the State Championship game scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Macon.
His 4th season with the team, Coach Faulkner said, “Advancing to the finals is a tribute to our players work ethic and perseverance. They work throughout the summer, pre-season and the year. They have listened to the coaching staff and followed our advice, but above all they are excellent teammates.”
Several seniors are entertaining offers from colleges and universities. Coach Faulkner said that the boys are simply, “…waiting for the dust to settle,” before making their post-high school decisions.
