Interim Board of Education Member Sworn Into Office at Special Legislative Meeting

 District 2 resident Nisha Simama was sworn in this evening as the interim atlanta board of education representative, representing District 2.  Judge Kimberly M. Esmond Adams of Fulton County performed the ceremony which was the board’s first action of the evening.  Simama currently works as a counselor and multicultural coordinator at the Paideia School. 

Simama, who fills the position left vacant by former board member and chair Khaatim El, holds a Masters degree in Urban Education/Political Science from Clark Atlanta University.  She begins serving her interim appointment as of August 15, 2011.  A special election in November will provide the board with an elected District 2 representative.
