Math March Madness at Humphries Elementary School

Students at Humphries Elementary participated in a full month of fun-filled math activities in an effort to help prepare for the Criterion Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT). Each week, students were actively engaged in activities that gave them an understanding of how math is a part of their everyday lives. Math March Madness kicked off with a Math Smart Cookie Problem of the Day, followed by Math Bingo, and Math Scavenger Hunt.

Students were especially excited about CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) Math Problem Solving along with guest speakers from Atlanta Police Department and “McGruff” the Crime Fighting Dog. Students learned hands on how math is used to solve crimes. The last activity of the month was the Second Annual Math Step Show, where each grade level created step routines using raps, chants, and songs about math concepts.
