Fickett Elementary shows its can-do spirit, wins a free trip to the circus

Fickett Elementary School students rallied to collect the most food items for the Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Contest. Fickett’s victory translates into a free trip, for the entire school, to the legendary and local UniverSoul Circus. Fickett collected almost 16,000 food items for the 2009 Food For The Soul drive in Atlanta and has replaced the 2007 and 2008 winner Bunche Middle School. Despite charitable giving significantly down across the country, the four participating school public school systems – Atlanta Public and Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton county schools – had a total of 20 participants and collected almost 70,000 food items that have been donated to Hosea Feed The Hungry. The performance will take place on Feb. 23.
