We were out at B.E.S.T. Academy hoping to interview some students and sat in on the monthly Meeting of the Minds assembly, in which students are recognized for various achievements. Members of 100 Black Men of Atlanta, a community partner, were on hand as well. The session includes the announcement of the Students of the Month, and were able to corral the students for a group photo — but, unfortunately, not enough to identify each student as they’re placed in the photo. But we DO have the list. Here are the Students of the Month for September: Mykael Riley, Melvin Gullatt, Sherrod Brackins, Joel Osley, Marcell Freeman, DeShawn Waller, Frederick Williams, Brandon Neely, Crispus Hendrix, Tabias Wimby, Mykeal Davis, Bernard Brown, Kaleb Anderson, Alec Robinson, Marcus Strickland, Christopher Wright, Monterrius Brown, John Rogers, Tocorius Rose, Stormy Jenkins, Nathaniel Colbert and Amadou Bah. Also on a B.E.S.T. note, the school’s undefeated football team will face Parks Middle at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood Stadium. Finally, the debate teams from all of the SRT-4 middle schools — B.E.S.T. Academy, Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Harper-Archer, Sutton and Turner — will compete Saturday morning at Emory University.
