Atlanta will soon be home to the College Football Hall of Fame, according to an article in the AJC. Scheduled to open in 2012, officials hope the venue will be located near Centennial Olympic Park and draw from various tourist attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium and The World of Coca-Cola.
The $50 million facility will be funded by city, state and private sources, including Chick-Fil-A, founded by APS alum Truett Cathy.
Along with celebrating football titans such as Troy Aikman (Oklahoma and UCLA) and Herschel Walker (University of Georgia), the Hall of Fame reportedly will feature entertainment as well as, “an education component that will be developed in consultation with local school chiefs like Atlanta Superintendent Beverly Hall.”
Expect to see quite a few APS alumns featured as well.
