Hutchinson Elementary School opened Bank of Hutchinson in partnership with Capitol City Bank (Student Banking Program). The introduction of the student banking officers and bank board members was followed by speaker Elese Simmons (school representative of Capitol City Bank) motivating each student to deposit the money they receive from allowance, birthday, etc., into the new Bank of Hutchinson. She also asked two math/banking-related trivia questions, with the winner receiving $20 to deposit into their new account, along with being the first student customers with the new bank. Closing remarks were made by Principal Dr. Rebecca Dashiell-Mitchell, followed by student banking officers and bank board members being the first to visit the new bank located in the school auditorium. The bank will be open for business twice a month.
