Atlanta Public Schools (APS) welcomed thousands of students and families to the Georgia World Congress Center on Aug. 1 for its annual Back to School Bash, an event designed to help families prepare for the new school year.
With more than 8,000 pre-registered students, 100 exhibitors, and 500 volunteers, the celebration served as an opportunity for families to strengthen connections with their schools before classes began. APS departments and school staff were available to assist with student registration, answer questions and share information about programs and services available throughout the year.
Students received free school supply kits and enjoyed student performances and activities, while community organizations, healthcare providers, educational partners and APS schools offered information, services and hands-on experiences for families.
The Back to School Bash was presented by Mercedes-Benz and Amazon, with additional support from Safe Kids Worldwide, Georgia Natural Gas, Georgia Power, Empty Stocking Fund, Smart Choice Technologies and Elevate Atlanta. V-103 and WSB-TV also served as media sponsors. Partnerships such as these help make large-scale events possible while allowing Atlanta Public Schools to maximize resources and make thoughtful investments that directly benefit students and families.
