Atlanta Public Schools (APS) proudly hosted its fourth annual Esports Tournament on Saturday, April 25, at North Atlanta High School, bringing together elementary and middle school teams from across the district for a day of competition, collaboration, and innovation.
Students competed in a variety of games, showcasing not only their gaming talents, but also critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
This year’s event also highlighted the strong connection between esports and future-ready career pathways. Through competition challenges and career-based learning experiences, students earned points while exploring opportunities in the esports industry, including game design, programming, coding, broadcasting, and more. As a result of their performance and participation, five students from each school advanced to the district tournaments.
The tournament reflected the continued growth of the district’s esports initiative and its commitment to engaging students through high-interest opportunities that build STEM, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Coaches, staff, families, and supporters helped create an exciting and energetic atmosphere throughout the day.
APS is proud of all participating students and grateful for our partnership with Elite Gaming Live in making this event a success. The APS Department of Instructional Technology looks forward to continuing this momentum and welcoming even more students to next year’s tournament.
