The Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Festival of Books presented APS educators, instructional leaders, and families with the opportunity to get their hands on additional academic resources for their students and classrooms for free.
The purpose of the APS Festival of Books was to redistribute surplus materials, enhance educational resources across the district, optimize space, and create opportunities for collaborative efforts among departments to successfully engage educators with improved access to instructional materials.
Twenty educators from 12 registered schools collected 1,688 instructional materials and five boxes of science equipment, manipulatives, and ISME Phonics kits from the APS Warehouse. “I’m incredibly proud of the energy and collaboration we saw during our first-ever Festival of Books at the APS Warehouse,” APS instructional materials manager Nakia Hill said. “It was such a powerful reminder that what may be deemed “obsolete” can still hold extraordinary value in the hands of our students, families, and educators. Seeing schools, parents, and staff gather around books for enrichment, extended learning, and home libraries was truly inspiring.”
