The students at Finch Elementary School were treated to a fun surprise before the Winter Break. HDR Engineering, in partnership with All Kids Bike, gathered the students into the gymnasium to reveal a gift of 26 bicycles (one teacher bike) for their physical education class.
Finch Elementary School physical education teacher Regana Hill demonstrated to her students how to put on their safety helmets and how to maneuver on the currently pedal-less bicycles.
“The kids are going to really benefit from having bicycles in the classroom and being taught how to ride properly,” she said. “They’ll be able to use the Atlanta Beltline and go out with their families and be able to ride their bikes as well.”
HDR Engineering has now donated bikes to five schools in Atlanta Public Schools in the last two years. Last year, HDR Engineering gave bikes to Boyd Elementary and Humphries Elementary School. After visiting Finch, HDR Engineering also surprised students at Toomer Elementary School and Garden Hills Elementary School.
“It is probably the best day of the year at work when we get to come watch the kids and see their excitement to be able to ride a bike,” said Stuart Jeffcoat, Vice President of HDR Engineering. “What better way to be outdoors in the city of Atlanta than on your bike.”
