Atlanta Public Schools Brings Baseball Media Day to the Big Leagues

The Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Athletics Department introduced its 2024-2025 baseball programs inside the Hank Aaron Terrace at Truist Park for APS Baseball Media Day.

With the Atlanta Braves home field as a backdrop, each APS baseball program had the chance to introduce themselves and express their excitement for the 2024-2025 high school baseball season.

“The partnership that we have with the Atlanta Braves and the Henry Louis Aaron Fund is big,” APS Director of Athletics Corrie Collier said. “The kids get an opportunity to see where their dreams could possibly take them with hard work and dedication. It is really big for us to provide this resource for them, and we hope they take advantage of this opportunity.”

Both The Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Henry Louis Aaron Fund have been generous benefactors to APS Athletics. They have facilitated field improvement projects at Booker T. Washington High School, Frederick Douglass High School, Carver Early College, and Therrell High School.

APS Baseball has produced several recent MLB draft picks, including Xzavion Curry (Mays Class of 2016), Antonio Anderson (North Atlanta Class of 2023), Isaiah Drake (North Atlanta Class of 2023), and Termarr Johnson (Mays Class of 2022).

In addition to meeting the teams and the players, the future of APS baseball was introduced as well. The L.E.A.D. Center for Youth presented their All-L.E.A.D. Honors team of promising middle and elementary school players excelling on the field and in the classroom.

Before wrapping up the afternoon, professional baseball player Chandler Simpson took the stage to share his experience and advice with the student-athletes.

The coaches and players are ready for a successful 2024-2025 season. Whether they are developing young players or building on the previous season’s success, APS baseball is continuing to grow.
