A day after celebrating the birthday of Atlanta Braves legend Henry “Hank” Aaron, the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Henry Louis Aaron Fund unveiled their latest gift to Atlanta Public Schools.
The baseball and softball teams at Carver High School now have a brand-new batting cage to practice in along with new windscreens for both fields.
“My teammates and I are truly grateful for the donation,” said Patrick Perry, a sophomore baseball player at Carver. “We talk about it every day how we have to capitalize off of this donation. We’re really hungry, and we’re thankful to still have a place to practice and get some work in because we’re looking to have a successful record this year and probably go far in the playoffs.”
This was the Atlanta Braves Foundation’s seventh field improvement project, and the third with Atlanta Public Schools. A few weeks ago, the Atlanta Braves Foundation partnered with Truist Bank for the Braves Parks Project that brought facility upgrades to Therrell High School.
“Having a relationship with an organization like the Braves that’s right here in town gives us an opportunity to keep growing,” Carver High School athletic director Wendy Golston said. “This is just a great opportunity for our kids to improve our facilities and allow them to know that they matter and our community matters.”
Carver baseball went 10-6 (5-2) in the 2023-2024 season, finished in second place in 3A Area5, and made the playoffs.
Carver softball finished the 2024-2025 season with a 6-7 (3-3) record, and also reached the playoffs.
