Atlanta Public Schools (APS) celebrated the opening of the new Student and Family Support Hub, which will serve as the new home for many of the wrap-around services for APS families.
APS families may receive support from departments such as Student Health Services, Social Work Services, School Counseling, Exceptional Education Parent Mentors, Student Registration, and a host of other student support services.
“Our Board and APS leadership here has been committed for some time to whole-child development,” APS Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson said. “This will be a resource for APS students, their families, and the community at large.”
In addition to the multiple student services, The Hub, formerly Oglethorpe Elementary School, will also have a store where APS families can come to get whatever they need. Families can access the various resources available in a centralized location.
“We have been working on this for over a year,” APS Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Chelsea Montgomery said. “We’re so excited to welcome our families and community and get started.”
Now that the Student and Family Hub is open, APS is calling for partners and the community to Stock the Store and help supply some of the items needed in the APS Hub store.
The facility will also debut with a series of open houses scheduled from October 16-18, when APS families and stakeholders are invited to view the progress of the hub and vision for the future. Please visit the Student and Family Support Hub website to learn more.
“We’ve shared our desire to be the best school district in the nation, and this positions us a step closer to fulfilling that desire,” Johnson said. “Some people say it in words, and some people make it happen. This is evidence of a school community and a district that desires to make it happen.”
