On Feb. 17, Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and community joined the authors of MIRROR FACE for a special moment of self-acceptance and self-love. The virtual event was a culmination of 10 days of school-based and in-home SEL activities. View the entire event here. Anchored around Valentine’s Day, Atlanta Public Schools’ Media Services and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) departments partnered with the authors of MIRROR FACE, a picture book that teaches children to love themselves independently of the opinion of others and build their inner confidence. Thanks to this partnership, 30,000 APS students (Pre-K through 5th grade) received free digital copies of the book along with a robust social emotional learning curriculum led by school media specialists. Families can continue to practice self-love with their children by participating in the #MirrorFaceChallenge.
