The holiday season will be a lot merrier and brighter for students at Hope-Hill Elementary School, thanks to the partnership and overwhelming generosity of NCR Corp., Walmart and the Atlanta Committee for Progress (ACP).
On Wednesday, Dec. 16, NCR, Walmart and ACP donated winter clothes and toys for more than 300 students at the Hope-Hill. The donation effort was held to assist students and their families, many of whom have been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and are facing housing and food insecurity, in addition to distance-learning accessibility challenges.
To assist, teachers at Hope-Hill selected holiday gifts for students at the school. Walmart then set up an online gift registry on its Walmart+ platform where NCR employees could easily purchase items for the students, along with school supplies for the teachers at the school. Walmart also donated packaging for the gifts, and the NCR Foundation provided matching contributions.
“This holiday program is just one way we show support to help develop and educate the children of our surrounding community, tomorrow’s leaders, innovators and achievers,” said Mike Hayford, president and CEO of NCR. “We were honored to collaborate with Walmart and ACP to bring it to fruition.”
“The children and parents will be delighted, thank you NCR, Walmart and ACP for your initiative to benefit our school and our community,” added Susanna Roberts, who serves as parents and community liaison at Hope-Hill.
APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring said the donation is greatly appreciated.
“This has been a school year like no other, and our children and families are so deserving of extra love and support this season,” said Dr. Herring. “NCR’s and Walmart’s commitment to our students is bringing that much-needed joy to the Hope-Hill community and are paragon examples of corporate social responsibility. We are deeply grateful for this selfless and meaningful gift that is sure to make a lasting and important impact.”
