Barack and Michelle Obama Academy Earns 3 National Beta Club Awards

by talkupaps

A huge congratulations goes out to Barack and Michelle Obama Academy for being named a National Beta School of Distinction, National Beta School of Merit, and for earning the 2020 National Beta All Star Service award!

The National Beta School of Distinction award reflects BAMO’s commitment to academic excellence and illustrates the school’s dedication to preparing students for college and career readiness.

BAMO earned the 2019-2020 National Beta School of Merit for its dedication and commitment to academic excellence, while the National Beta All Star Service award reflects 50-75 hours that students spent serving their school, community and state.

Principal Robin Christian is especially proud of her students’ accomplishments, as BAMO is an APS Turnaround School that has been removed from the Focus Schools List/Governor’s Office of State Turn Around Eligible Lists. She credits Dr. Linda Tuttle, Jr. Beta Club sponsor, for establishing the club two years ago and for putting in countless hours on weekends and after school to get BAMO to this national level.

“To receive these honors on behalf of such a national platform as the National Jr. Beta Club is affirmation that when you provide students with caring adults who believe in their potential, the sky is the limit,” Christian said. “We are extremely honored to receive not one, but three awards. We will continue to expose and instill in our scholars all what the National Jr. Beta Club upholds.”

Dr. Tuttle said it has been an honor to work with the Jr. Beta Club.

“The members of the club are amazing students. They are all strong, intelligent and caring leaders. They are the kindest, most generous students I think I have ever worked with,” said Dr. Tuttle, noting that BAMO students have also been recognized locally for their service projects two years in a row. “It was a pleasure to work with them as they served our students and community. Not only do they make me proud, but they make their school proud.”
