REACH Scholars waive their big scholarship checks after the signing ceremony.
Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria J. Carstarphen, Ed.D. announced the recipients of the 2017 Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Georgia scholarship October 18 during a ceremony at the Atlanta-Fulton County Metropolitan Library. Twelve APS eighth grade students from across the district signed REACH Georgia contracts for the 2017-2018 school year before their parents, principals and district leadership. Each student was awarded gifts and a ceremonial $10,000 scholarship check, which is redeemable upon graduation and enrollment at a Georgia state university.
These 8th Grade students are members of the Class of 2022 REACH Scholars.

Launched in 2012, the REACH Georgia Scholarship Program is a key program of Governor Nathan Deal’s Complete College Georgia Initiative. The needs-based mentorship and scholarship program is designed to encourage students, starting in middle school, to persist in their educational pursuits. Students are provided with the academic, social, and financial support needed to graduate from high school, access college, achieve post-secondary success and be prepared for the 21st Century workforce.
