Take the Turnaround Education Partner Survey Now Through March 2

A new survey seeking feedback on the Turnaround Strategy potential education partners is now open. Since the February board meeting, APS has been exploring ideas proposed by three education partners through community meetings and open houses.

• The Rensselaerville Institute’s School Turnaround program, a nonprofit leadership development initiative designed to assist principals to achieve rapid improvement at low-achieving schools, submitted a proposal to support schools and leaders across the district.
• Purpose Built Schools, an arm of Purpose Built Communities and a partner organization with Charles R. Drew Charter School, has proposed to operate Thomasville Heights and Slater elementary schools, Price Middle School and Carver High School in the Carver Cluster.
• The Kindezi Schools, which runs two successful charter schools in Atlanta, has offered to operate Gideons Elementary School

While Kindezi and Purpose Built Schools are current charter operators, APS is only considering partnerships that would involve neighborhood schools with traditional attendance boundaries, not charter schools.

APS wants the community to have a variety of opportunities to provide input regarding the selection of new education partners in the Carver Cluster. The proposed partners have presented highlights of their proposals at community meetings throughout the month.    The survey provides an additional opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback.
