Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria J. Carstarphen, Ed.D. accepts the first-ever Georgia State University College of Education and Human Development Partnership Award during fall convocation. Georgia State University’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) presented Atlanta Public Schools (APS) with its first CEHD Partnership Award during its most recent Fall Convocation Ceremony on Dec. 16. The award was given to honor a valuable partnership that exists between the college and a member of the community. It celebrates the joint efforts to make an impact in the lives of students by addressing real world challenges and advancing the public good. APS Superintendent Meria J. Carstarphen, Ed.D. accepted the award and provided brief remarks for the graduates. “In order to prepare teachers and human services professionals, we need partners who are equally dedicated to their success,” said Paul Alberto, CEHD dean. “Based on years of engagement between the college and Atlanta Public Schools and the many successful projects we’ve undertaken, it was clear that APS should be the first recipient of this award.” To see photos from the CEHD convocation and to learn more click here.
