Passion City Church Donates Books to APS Elementary Students

Members of Passion City Church helped pass out books at Mary Lin Elementary School last week as part of the church’s “Christmas Smile” initiative, which provides a book for every student in an Atlanta Public School elementary school.

For the third consecutive year, every student in an Atlanta Public Schools elementary school received a new book before heading home for the Winter Break, thanks to Passion City Church’s “Christmas Smile” initiative.

“We think education is a key to success in life, and reading is an essential part of learning,” said WAGA-TV (FOX5) Meteorologist David Chandley, a member of Passion City Church, who delivered books to Mary Lin Elementary School last week.  “We want every child to have a book to read for Christmas.”

Mary Lin Principal Sharyn Brisco said the program has two positive impacts on her school.

“Our students are fortunate to see others providing community service for their benefit, and hopefully this will inspire them to give service as well,” Brisco said. “And of course, a book is a gift that keeps on giving every time you read it.”
