Young artists and writers from Maynard H. Jackson, North Atlanta, Grady and South Atlanta High schools were honored with a Silver Key or Honorable Mention by The Savannah College of Art and Design, the Georgia affiliate and program administrator for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
The list of past national recipients include notable creative leaders such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Robert Redford and Ken Burns. All submitted works are reviewed by local professionals working in the visual and literary arts and receive Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention Awards. Teens in grades 7 through 12 can apply for a chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited and published. Categories include comic art, poetry, jewelry, science fiction, sculpture, novel writing and video game design.
