News Release January 7, 2015 Georgia Power helps Atlanta Public Schools kick off New Year with $50,000 Donation ATLANTA – B. Mitchell King, region manager for the Metro East Region at Georgia Power, presented Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Superintendent Meria J. Carstarphen with a check for $50,000 to support the district’s five-year strategic plan. The plan focuses on four strategic objectives: academic programs, talent strategy, systems and resources, and culture. This is the first partnership donation received by APS for the new year. Also in attendance were Atlanta Public Schools Deputy Superintendent David Jernigan and Atlanta Public Schools Executive Director of Partnerships and Development Katie McDowell.
