APS Athletic Department breaks record numbers for student-athlete participants

The Atlanta Public School’s athletics department broke the 10,000 barrier for participation numbers during the 2013-2014 school year, a milestone for the department.

With more than 8,000 participants at the high school level and almost 2,000 participants at the middle school level, APS Athletics ended the school year with an overall total of 10,057 student-athletes in their program.

Atlanta Public Schools 2013-2014 Athletic Director Jeff Beggs says “This is a phenomenal achievement and congratulations to our building level athletic directors and athletic coaches for motivating our young people to participate in a sport. “
