The Georgia High School Association Track and Field State Championships took place Saturday, May 3 in Albany, Georgia. With 6 Atlanta Public School teams representing the district. Two teams brought home the gold. Grady High School’s Nyla woods earned a gold medal in the AAAA shot put competition. Maynard Jackson High School had 3 AAA state championship winners and placed 4th overall. Diamond Reese won 1st place in the shot put, Courtney Jones earned a gold medal for the 100-meter hurdles and the 4×100 team, Shyleah Catlin, Courtney Jones, Sabreea Roberson and Garielle Netter, took first place after a hard-fought come back victory. All of these young ladies were recognized for their outstanding achievements during the May Board of Education Meeting.
