On October 5th, South Atlanta High School’s “Marching Hornets” band and JROTC represented the district well in the 100 Black Men Parade of Excellence.  This prestigious event allowed students in our program to display the many talents found in the school. The band was one of only a few organizations selected to perform from an extensive list of hopefuls.

This was the first parade for many of the students.

The screaming spectators, crowd, floats, and opposing bands were an eye opener for what to expect in the future. Ninety plus percent of the band was marching in their first parade with no rehearsals – this was quite a task!” says band leader Jamont Lane.
