KIPP STRIVE and Atlanta Families’ Award Winner Host 5K Dash

APS charter schools  KIPP STRIVE Academy and KIPP STRIVE Primary School conducted their first annual 5K Dash on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

There were over 150 participants ranging in age from newborn to 83.  This event raised more than $1,500 to provide students with an international travel experience. Math teacher Stephanie Jones, a 2012 Atlanta Families’ Award winner, conceived and won funding for the 5K Dash as a way to impact students’ academic abilities in math, improve their body image, and bring the community together around a common goal.

The Atlanta Families’ Awards for Excellence in Education (AFAEE) understands that teacher and school leader quality ensure children’s access to an excellent education. By recognizing excellent educators each year, AFAEE hopes to create a platform to further the success of students in Atlanta Public Schools, retain motivated educators, and attract top individuals to the district.
