Mr. Tyree Andrews is the newly appointed principal of Daniel M. Therrell (STEMS) High School. He is looking forward to serving the students, staff, and community.
Mr. Andrews is an Arkansas native, but has lived in the metro Atlanta area for the past fifteen years. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for his undergraduate degree. He continued his education at Cambridge in Boston, MA where he earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
As a new member of the DM Therrell school community, his vision on teaching and learning are built on strong relationships. He believes that the relationships between the teacher and the student, as well as the relationship between the school and the parent, must be fostered and nurtured in order to achieve the optimal level of student achievement. Mr. Andrews will be hosting monthly “Coffee and Conversations,” with the parents and community to help bridge this gap.
Mr. Andrews has been in education for over fifteen years. His work had included teaching roles from fourth to eighth grade. Mr. Andrews worked at Capitol View Elementary School, Ralph J. Bunche Middle School, and Jean Childs Young Middle School. Mr. Andrews has served in various leadership capacities including Instructional Mathematics Coach, Assistant Principal, and now Principal.
Mr. Andrews wants each of his students to aim high in life. His motto, “Every Child, Every Classroom, Every Day,” encompasses all students. It is his charge to prepare all of the students at Daniel M. Therrell (STEMS) High School for the global/technological society they will inherit in the 21st century.
