Summer Academy at Young: Bridging the Gap with Technology

by talkupaps

blog1Atlanta Public Schools is hosting some of its summer school programs at Jean Childs Young Middle School this month. Until the end of the session on June 28th, the summer academy will serve four middle schools in Atlanta Public Schools, including Young, Bunche, Kennedy, and Brown Middle Schools. The site will also house an enrichment program being offered to select elementary school students who are preparing for middle school transition.

Communication with parents and students is critical, even during the summer months. It is important to provide APS stakeholders with important information, updates and an overview of summer programs. Summer Academy 2013 at Young Middle School worked to bridge the gap through the use of innovative technology and tools.

This year the summer school staff at Young developed a comprehensive website to communicate important information with parents, teachers, school partners and the community. The staff encourages stakeholders to check the site for weekly updates and to read the school’s summer school blog highlighting everything from a recap of the first week to dress code essentials.
