Burgess-Peterson Academy partnered with Barnes & Nobles for their annual book fair on May 18. All parents, students, staff, and community members were invited to attend a full day of activities at Barnes & Nobles in Edgewood. Ten percent of the proceeds from all items purchased on May 18 at Barnes & Nobles were donated towards a library makeover for the school!
The activities during the book fair included story time, student performances, reading time with the Teacher of the Year, crafts, parent networking, live music, and more! The book fair was a great success as parents, students, and faculty members were fully engaged and supportive. Teachers were also able to advise parents on summer reading books from the Common Core reading list.
“This event was fun, engaging, and educational as we continued to work within the East Atlanta community,” says Principal Robin Robbins. “The crowd was very supportive, and it was so exciting to see parents so engaged. The event was different and unique, and it was great to work with a local business to give back to the school.”
Donations can still be made to Burgess-Peterson by purchasing online through May 23, 2013. Please visit www.barnesandnoble.com and enter the code “11095593” during checkout for 10% of the proceeds to be donated towards the school.
The students and staff at Burgess-Peterson thank the community in advance for their support!
