Public Hearings Set for Small Schools at Carver, D.M. Therrell, Washington and South Atlanta High Schools

Notice of Public Hearing – Carver High School Campus

The Atlanta Board of Education will hold two public hearings on February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. and February 26, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Atlanta Public Schools staff will discuss the transition of the Carver School of the Arts, Carver School of Health Sciences & Research and Carver School of Technology from its official designation as a small school to its proposed designation as a small learning community.

The proposed small learning community will continue to be located on the campus of the New Schools at Carver. The school zone will remain unchanged for students living in the New Schools at Carver zone. Based on this year’s enrollment and next year’s projected enrollment, the Carver campus is expected to serve approximately 1,550 students.

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide written or oral feedback on the proposed changes. All hearings will take place at the New Schools at Carver, located at 55 McDonough Boulevard, Atlanta, Georgia 30315. No vote will be taken at the hearings.

Notice of Public Hearing – South Atlanta High School Campus

The Atlanta Board of Education will hold two public hearings on February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. and February 26, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Atlanta Public Schools staff will discuss the transition of the South Atlanta School of Health & Medical Sciences, South Atlanta School of Law & Social Justice and South Atlanta School of Computer Animation & Design from its official designation as a small school to its proposed designation as a small learning community.

The proposed small learning community will continue to be located on the campus of South Atlanta High School. The school zone will remain unchanged for students living in the South Atlanta High School zone. Based on this year’s enrollment and next year’s projected enrollment, the South Atlanta campus is expected to serve approximately 900 students.

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide written or oral feedback on the proposed changes.  All hearings will take place at South Atlanta High School, located at 800 Hutchens Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30354. No vote will be taken at the hearings.

Notice of Public Hearing – D.M. Therrell High School Campus

The Atlanta Board of Education will hold two public hearings on February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. and February 26, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Atlanta Public Schools staff will discuss the transition of the D.M. Therrell School of Health Sciences & Research, D.M. Therrell School of Law, Government & Public Policy, and D.M. Therrell School of Technology, Engineering, Math & Science from its official designation as a small school to its proposed designation as a small learning community.

The proposed small learning community will continue to be located on the campus of  D. M. Therell High School. The school zone will remain unchanged for students living in the Therrell High School zone. Based on this year’s enrollment and next year’s projected enrollment, the Therrell campus is expected to serve approximately 900 students.

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide written or oral feedback on the proposed changes.  All hearings will take place at D.M.Therrell High School, located at 3099 Panther Trail, Atlanta, Georgia 30311. No vote will be taken at the hearings.

Notice of Public Hearings – Washington High School Campus

The Atlanta Board of Education will hold two public hearings on February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. and February 26, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Atlanta Public Schools staff will discuss the transition of the Booker T. Washington School of Banking, Finance & Investment, and Booker T. Washington School of Health Sciences & Nutrition from its official designation as a small school to its proposed designation as a small learning community.

The proposed small learning community will continue to be located on the campus of Washington High School. The school zone will remain unchanged for students living in the Washington High School zone. Based on this year’s enrollment and next year’s projected enrollment, the Washington campus is expected to serve approximately 850 students.

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide written or oral feedback on the proposed changes.  All hearings will take place at Washington High School, located at 45 Whitehouse Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30314. No vote will be taken at the hearings

When is the board meeting regarding this transition process? How do you expect WORKING parents to attend 11am meetings?! Sneaky atactics are disrespectful!
