Over $4,000 in classroom grants awarded to 2nd grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School

Bejanae Kareem, a second grade teacher at Parkside Elementary, honed her grant writing skills and recently received over $4000 in grant money.  Ms. Kareem submitted the grant request after she realized that she needed extra funding in order to carry out special projects for her class.

“It has been a challenge to find funding for special projects,” said Kareem.  “However, there are several resources that allow you to design projects and use community donations to support those projects and also help purchase things you need for your students.”

Not only did Kareem find funding for her own class projects, but she also secured resources to help with teacher, parent and student collaboration, and funding to support Parkside’s robotics team.

“Ms. Kareem is a tremendous asset to our school,” said principal Phillip Luck.  “The grant money she earned has provided an incredible amount of support, not only for her classroom but for our entire student body–especially the after school robotics program.”

The list of funds awarded to Kareem along with additional grant opportunities for educators are listed below.
