A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Lakewood Stadium is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at 70 Claire Drive, SW, Atlanta 30315. Atlanta Board of Education Chair Brenda J. Muhammad, APS Athletics Director Jeff Beggs and APS Director of Construction Management Jere Smith are scheduled to participate in the ceremony. Lakewood is the second of the district’s two athletic stadiums to undergo extensive renovations in recent years. Grady Stadium was renovated in 2010. The renovations for both stadiums include new lights and sound systems, new stands and playing surfaces and other enhancements. News media representatives are invited to attend and cover this event.
