Coan Middle welcomes $1 million gift from Emory University alum to support Graduation Generation

by talkupaps

An event to launch the Graduation Generation project, which is designed to ensure that Coan Middle students achieve academic success through graduation, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2. (The AJC covers it here.) A $1 million donation from Emory University alumnus Rick Reider is being used to fund the program, which helps foster Coan students to be successful in school and graduate from high school on time and prepared to go on to colleges and universities.

The funding will be used to support workshops, mentoring, tutoring and other programs for both students and their parents/guardians. The programs are tailored for students in sixth through 12th grade. Officials from Atlanta Public Schools, Atlanta Board of Education, Emory University, Communities In Schools In Georgia and others will be on hand for the program launch event, which follows the regular monthly meeting of the Coan Middle School PTA that begins at 5:30 p.m.
