Celebrity chefs to help APS celebrate National School Lunch Week in district cafeterias

More than 50 celebrity chefs will serve nutritious meals to students in school cafeterias throughout the district from Wednesday-Friday (Oct. 13-15) during National School Lunch Week. At APS, the week will highlight “Fresh Pick” options of locally grown fruits and vegetables that are served on a daily basis to APS students. Below is a schedule of several celebrity chef appearances in APS cafeterias during the week:

Oct. 13 – Atlanta Hawks Chef Bradley Rouse will serve students at Mary Lin Elementary School, 586 Chandler Park Dr., NE Atlanta 30307.  The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
Oct. 13 – Chef Delma De La Fuente, who is an APS parent, will serve lunch and kickoff the district’s Smoothie Dream Initiative at Sutton Middle School, 4360 Powers Ferry Rd., NW, Atlanta 30327.  The event starts at 11 a.m.
Oct. 14 – Nationally-acclaimed chef and former TNT cooking show host Marvin Woods will serve as celebrity chef at Bunche Middle School, 1925 Niskey Lake Rd., SW, Atlanta 30331.  The event starts at 11 a.m.
Oct. 15 – Chef Herb Mesa, who is one of three Next Food Network Star finalists, will serve as celebrity chef at North Atlanta High School, 2875 Northside Dr., NW, Atlanta 30305.  The event gets underway at 11 a.m.

News media representatives are invited to cover these events highlighting National School Lunch Week and healthy eating habits for children.
