Boyd Elementary welcomes second annual Fall Festival on Oct. 9

by talkupaps

The fall weather has arrived just in time for the Community Building Coalition of Northwest Atlanta to hold its second annual Fall Festival at Boyd Elementary School from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 9) at the school (1891 Johnson Road NW, Atlanta 30318). The festival will feature health screenings, adult stress-management tips, games, face-painting, workshops, children’s activities, refreshments and free school supplies.

According to organizers, the CCNA came from a vision of Emory University (OUCP) to organize northwest Atlanta by utilizing existing organizations who share the similar missions to uplift the quality of life for its residents. CCNA was formed after several meetings, including community stakeholders, business, residents, faith-based organizations, legislators and others.

The festival helps serve one of the CCNA’s missions, in promoting education, according to member Ola Reynolds. This is how, Reynolds says, the group “reaches out to the schools our children attend and their parents and other residents that are in the boundaries of NPU-G (Neighborhood Planning Unit-G) and beyond.”

We’d like to thank all the partners who will participate in the festival: City of Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Units, Agape Community Center, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Emory University’s Office of University Community Partnerships, Sims Estates Neighborhood Association (SENA), The Word of God Ministries and Northwest Youth Power Inc., Village – Vitals, the City of Atlanta, Fulton County, the state of Georgia Legislater, and Atlanta Public Schools.
