SRT-2 hosts technology camp for teachers

by talkupaps

Hundreds of teachers from Atlanta Public Schools’ School Reform Team 2 (or SRT-2) showed up at Dunbar Elementary last week for an informative technology camp that instilled many of the district’s 21st century education skills. From iPods and iPads to Promothean boards, teachers are learning to embrace new technology tools. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kathy Augustine noted that these kinds of tools are needed supplements to school textbooks that can be as old as seven years, and that these new tools allow students to learn in real time.

SRT-2 Executive Director Michael Pitts observed that as early adopters, students often are ahead of teachers in being conversant in new technology, and this camp helped bridge that knowledge gap for the teachers. Check out this video from our media production team of Scott King and Armon Moore and narrated by media spokesman Keith Bromery.

The SRT-2 schools are Dunbar, Capitol View, Cleveland Avenue, Dobbs, Dunbar, Gideons, Heritage Academy, Humphries, Hutchinson, Slater, D.H. Stanton and Thomasville Heights elementary schools and Long, Parks and Price middle schools.
