Field Day fun at Dunbar Elementary

by talkupaps

Update: Check out the photo gallery here.

Dunbar Elementary students celebrated the end of the school year with a little face painting, potato sack racing and the electric slide during Field Day on Tuesday. More than 35 parents also lent their support, donning Dunbar T-shirts and corralling excited students between events. “I can’t explain how important it is for parents to get involved,” said Dunbar PTSA President Shondra Carter (pictured above). “Children model their behavior after us, so if we have a good time, they will, too.” The smiles were non-stop, especially when Lil’ Jimmy (“The Youth Problem Solver“) grabbed the microphone and led cheers as well as group dancing in front of the school. But we’ll let the video tell the story.

Learn more about Shondra Carter in our upcoming graduation issue of The Atlanta Educator, about the new Early Learning & Literacy Resource Center (ELLRC), which broke ground this past spring and is located next door to Dunbar.

Thanks, Lil’ Jimmy. The kids clearly had a blast, especially when you led the line dance! We’ll get that video up soon.

This is Lil Jimmy and DJ Pozitivity(PD Kelz) We had a n awsome time at Dunbar and hope to get back there soon. The kids and faculty are incredible and friendly. They really made us feel welcome and are really POZITIVE. Have a safe summer and keep reading and practicing all the things you learned this school year so you will not have a hard time next year.
