An award-winning Inman Middle School poet, in her own words

Congratulations are in order for Inman Middle School sixth-grader Tessa Szalkowski (pictured, above left) who finished sixth in the Metro RESA (greater Atlanta) division of the Georgia Department of Education’s Young Georgia Authors competition with her Claude Monet-inspired poem, “Femmes au Jardin” (“Women in the Garden”). In the video above, Szalkowski discusses the inspiration for the poem with her English/language arts teacher, Wendy Baker (pictured, above right) — and then reads the poem for us. If this is the kind of work she can do at the sixth-grade level, imagine what’s in store when she hits high school! Beautiful stuff. Hat tip to Inman Principal Dr. Betsy Bockman for sharing this great news.
